Rakon announces record month

23 July 2010, Auckland:  Rakon (NZX: RAK) has announced that it expects to ship a record volume of over 6.5 million units from its Auckland factory this month, with potential to increase that by 20% by October.

“We are seeing very strong demand from smart phones, tablet PCs and net books, all with GPS. This month will break our previous record we set back in 2007,” said Brent Robinson, Rakon’s CEO.

“This is an exciting milestone for our New Zealand plant as we can see the results of 5 years of investment in what is still a very tough market. It’s a positive indicator for what we are anticipating as real demand ahead in these consumer markets,” Mr Robinson explained.

“Research companies have predicted strong demand for GPS enabled smart phones and other connected devices, such as tablet PCs. We are starting to see evidence of this in demand for our GPS TCXOs.”
