1967 Founded by Warren Robinson in Auckland, New Zealand.
1972 Singapore subsidiary established.
1980’s Evolution of technology into frequency synthesization, developed TCXO technology, requiring a total revamp crystal products and the process and test capability.
1989 Won contract to supply NEC cellular phone application.
1990 1ppm TCXO developed in previously unmatched size.
1991 With the 1ppm TCXO became the major supplier to the first hand held GPS (Magellan) and Rockwell’s GPS engine board.
1994 Designed and built new factory in Auckland to delivery larger volumes with higher standards.
1995 Development of new strip crystal technology.
1996 ISO9002 accreditation.
1997 Development of TCXO IC technology & ISO9001 accredited.
2000 Expanded factory to produce larger capacity of new IC type TCXO and strip crystals
2001 Replaced major competitor in Motorola’s automotive GPS business
2002 Won sole supply position into Rakon’s first GPS/cellular phone, established Rakon America
2003 Voted New Zealand Supreme Technology Company, 0.5ppm TCXO developed for high volume applications
2004 3x2.5mm TCXO technology launched with 0.5ppm stability, established Rakon Asia
2005 Voted New Zealand Supreme Exporter from all industries
