THE FUTURE
WITH RAKON

The
integration of satellite GPS technology with personal telecommunications
services such as the mobile phones, PDA's and base stations, as well as
the burgeoning use of GPS in vehicles will bring an explosion in demand for high-performance
frequency control technology. Rakon is committed to maintaining its leading
position in the GPS market, first, by increasing its production capacity, and
second, by continuing to advance the technology.

Rakon
will continue to develop the next generation of technology. The emphasis is
not only on miniaturisation but also on pushing the boundaries of product performance, all the while continuing its reputation for producing standard
and non-standard crystals and TCXO's that provide
reliable performance in extreme environments.

Rakon's major investments will include research and development
into new technology for enabling true weak signal GPS, new oscillator and crystal products (including Rakon patented technology), expansion of SMD crystal production and SMD TCXO production, further development of the RF module and new manufacturing facilities.

The automotive
industry is a key market for Rakon requiring high quality standards. These
high quality requirements will enable the company to commit to obtaining the
ISO/TS 16949 accreditation. Rakon will be one of the first companies to
achieve this new standard in New Zealand.

By 2006
it is expected that location based services will be a multi billion dollar
industry. Due to governmental mandates it is only a matter of time before every
manufacturer will be building a GPS receiver into their cellular phones. Rakon
has developed new mass volume miniature products that assist weak (GPS)
signal performance. Due to its first move advantage Rakon has a head start in
capturing this massive market.
