About Rakon

Rakon is a global high technology company that designs and manufactures world leading frequency control solutions. Today we live in a connected society of wired, wireless and optical networks. Data is being transferred everywhere, at any time and at high speeds. Rakon products are found at the forefront of communications where speed and reliability are paramount.  Whether it be deep down in the infrastructure, satellites in space, or navigation devices – Rakon's products are at the forefront of enabling connectivity, faster and more reliably.

About Rakon India

Rakon’s facility in Bengaluru is engaged in the design and manufacturing of high performance Frequency Control Products (FCPs) for the telecommunications, industrial, defence, aeronautics and space markets.  The product range includes OCXOs, TCXOs, VCXOs, VCOs, XOs and crystal filters.

Rakon’s Heritage in India
Rakon has a long history of providing high-reliability FCPs to the market in India for more than 15 years. Rakon is the largest design, manufacturing and exporting company for FCPs in India. Its high-reliability products meet the most stringent military (MIL) and aerospace requirements.

Extending Rakon’s Global Platform
In 2008 a joint venture was formed between Rakon Limited (‘Rakon’) and Centum Electronics Limited (‘Centum’) with Rakon holding a 49% shareholding and Centum a 51% shareholding. In February 2018 Rakon announced it was in advanced discussions with Centum to buy out their shareholding. The acquisition completed in May 2018 and the company was renamed Rakon India.

In June 2018, Rakon CEO Brent Robinson said bringing Rakon India under Rakon’s full control was a strategic decision.

“It now gives us flexibility to invest further into the capability of its manufacturing plant. It will allow us to leverage the full potential of what is a high quality, low-cost operating suitable for growth, and provide the unconstrained ability to align the business with our international operations. Additionally it gives us direct access to the growing market in India.

“Over time we expect further benefits to arise as we leverage the opportunities that his platform makes available to our R&D bases in the United Kingdom, France and New Zealand.”

Market Introduction

New ways of communicating with each other are constantly evolving as people demand the convenience of communicating where and when they want to.

Each new generation of communication technology requires new devices and infrastructure equipment to support it – with ever increasing speeds and bandwidth required.

Rakon offers a complete range of end-to-end frequency control and timing solutions that synchronises connectivity for current and next generation telecommunication networks, consumer devices and even spacecraft.

connectivity-anytime-anywhere.png

Telecom Solutions Introduction

At the heart of all telecommunications is the need for precise timing and synchronisation for the network to deliver the speed and reliability that users demand. Rakon provides some of the most advanced timing solutions and is extremely well positioned in the global telecommunications infrastructure market as its frequency control technologies lie at the heart of these systems.

Many of Rakon’s products are designed into the lucrative new generation 4G devices and the LTE/4G network infrastructure – enabling connectivity everywhere in a networked world.

GNSS Solutions Introduction

Rakon has always been at the forefront of GPS technology and the industry since its commercialisation in the early 1990s. At that time Rakon introduced the smallest 1 ppm stability oscillator.

Rakon’s market leadership position and working closely with the industry ensures its technology is designed into many of the new consumer devices, high margin precision GNSS instruments and next generation solutions in new markets such as agriculture, construction and GIS mapping which are all forecast to grow strongly.
