Centum Rakon Oscillators On Board Spacecraft to Mars
June 2014: The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft was launched on board PSLV-C25 on 5 November 2013 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Rakon’s Joint Venture (JV) partner Centum Rakon is one of the ISRO’s local component suppliers – its oscillators are on board PSLV-C25 as well as the Mars spacecraft.
R&D grant awarded to Rakon
January 2014: Rakon is proud to be one of 31 companies to receive a government Research and Development Growth Grant. Recipients were announced in January by Science and Innovation Minister Steven Joyce. Rakon will receive more than NZ$1 million per year in funding over three years.
The R&D Growth Grants were introduced last year as part of changes to R&D funding designed to encourage more research and development to be undertaken by businesses in New Zealand.
“These companies have the potential to grow further and faster through the innovation this support will foster”, Mr Joyce said.
Rakon’s General Manager of Engineering New Zealand, Michael McIlroy said the company was very pleased to be a recipient of the grant.
Rakon Launches 1.28 GHz and 2GHz Ultra Low Noise Oscillators
February 2014. Rakon has launched a new series of Oven Controlled, voltage controlled SAW Oscillators (OCSOs). Using advanced SAW technology and new circuitry design, the OCSOs are ideal for applications that require high frequency and ultra low phase noise. The LNO1280B1 and LNO2000B1 enable frequencies of 1280 MHz and 2 GHz, respectively.
LN01280B1 and LNO2000B1 are based on Rakon’s high performance SAW oscillator cores at 320 MHz and 500 MHz, combined with Rakon’s low noise, active frequency quadruplers. The technology enables an exceptional phase noise floor and very low broadband jitter.
