Rakon Limited (RAK) released its preliminary result announcement and preliminary financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2017 to the market at around 9.00am on Thursday 18 May 2017. This was followed by a presentation by management at 11.00am by teleconference.

It was the era of black and white television, The Beatles, and the space race between the US and Russia to the moon. It was the 1960s and on the other side of the world, in his garage in little New Zealand, a man was making crystals to generate radio frequency. That man was Warren Robinson, founder of Rakon. Back then, Warren saw a large gap in the market for crystals and so he decided to make his own. The company became incorporated on 4 April 1967.
Rakon Has Released a New Application Note for Network Synchronisation Timing Requirements
The Application Note outlines synchronisation performance and temperature profile options of quartz crystal based oscillator timing sources for network synchronisation – to satisfy the requirements for stable clocks.
Network equipment of different deployment scenarios such as macro basestations and small cells, or outdoor housed equipment vs indoor equipment, may have the same performance expectations – but different cost targets. Specifically for synchronisation, oscillator performance is key, and very much dependant on the ambient temperature changes. This paper discusses practical temperature profiles, which may be considered for synchronisation performance testing, based on oscillator performances at various cost levels. Synchronisation testing in practical, realistic conditions saves considerable equipment cost by including the right components from the outset.
