World first: Crystal Oscillators Make ESA’s Qualified Parts List

19 March 2021
Rakon is pleased to announce its space oscillators are the first in the world to make it onto the European Space Agency (ESA) European Space Components Coordination (ESCC) Qualified Parts List (QPL).
Chief Marketing Officer, Darren Robinson said the achievement was a significant milestone for the company.
“Rakon has a long history of providing high-reliability products for space applications and we are extremely proud to be the very first to offer the industry’s crystal oscillators approved by the ESA. This is a tremendous result for our team in France, after a lot of collaboration and hard work over many years.
“We are the only oscillator manufacturer qualified by ESA according to the ESCC standard. It means that our site in Pont Sainte Marie, is qualified to deliver crystal oscillators (our RK135) for all its customers without any additional Lot Acceptance Tests (LAT) required, which reduces the lead time.”
Rakon releases 32 kHz Space VCXO with extreme pulling range of ±375 ppm

18 December 2020
Rakon India (RI) has launched the RVX2213S; a space grade VCXO offering an extremely high pulling ability of ±375 ppm at a low frequency of 32 kHz. In comparison, the majority of space VCXOs available in the market have a pulling range of ±100 ppm. The RVX2213S utilises a swept quartz crystal resonator as its core, guaranteeing the space VCXO to deliver a stable frequency over its lifetime – including within the harshest of radiation environments.
Rakon releases low phase noise, space-grade VCO

21 January 2021
Rakon has launched the RVC1616S – a space qualified, hybrid Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). Based on proprietary thick film technology, the design uses low noise bipolar transistors and hyber abrupt varactor diodes. The technology advances phase noise performance and provides high reliability and improved thermal management.
Rakon Helps Build a Satellite View of Climate Change

While we go about our daily lives, high above us in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) a satellite roams, providing vital evidence of changes that are affecting every one of us.
Rakon products are on-board the Copernicus satellite Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich (‘Sentinel-6’). The satellite was launched on 21 November and sent back its first measurements of sea level last week. The mission has been made possible through the EU’s Copernicus Programme and its partners1.
